Speedfan is a tool that can change your computer's fan speeds, read the temperatures of your motherboard and your hard disk, read voltages and fan speeds and check the health of your hard disk using S.M.A.R.T. or SCSI attributes.
This freeware program monitors fan speeds, temperatures and voltages in computers with hardware monitoring chips. SpeedFan can access S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology) info for hard disks that support this feature and will show hard disk temperatures.
SpeedFan can even change the FSB (Front Side Bus) on some motherboards. Although SpeedFan is a hardware monitor software that can access temperature sensors, its main feature is that it can control fan speeds according to the temperatures inside your PC, thus reducing noise and power consumption.
Speedfan is fully configurable and works under Windows 9x, ME, NT, 2000, 2003 and Windows XP.
It is compatible with Motherboard Monitor 5.
